WELCOME TO HASLETT

.Haslett takes its name from James and Sarah Haslett, who established the Nemoka Spiritualist Camp on the shores of Pine Lake (the original name for Lake Lansing). By the late 1800s, thousands of spiritualists flocked to Haslett Park for summer gatherings, readings, lectures, and seances. Mr. Haslett had envisioned his camp as the National Headquarters for the spiritualist movement. However, his premature passing in 1891 and the waning of the spiritualist movement led his widow to sell the land to the Haslett Park Association in 1898. The new owners reimagined the land as a summer recreational destination, later adding a figure-8 wooden roller coaster and other carnival rides, giving rise to what is now known as Lake Lansing Amusement Park.
